This £3.7M project developed a “time capsule” of how Belfast would have looked in 1911, through the integration of the Titanic’s tender ship, the SS Nomadic and Hamilton graving dock (including its original pumphouse). This project sensitively restored both the SS Nomadic and Hamilton Dock and opened these heritage assets as learning and interpretative shared space with a range of educational facilities and exhibitions telling the colourful story of the Nomadic, the Titanic, the history and legacy of Belfast shipbuilding and the story of emigration, facilitated by the era of the great transatlantic ocean liners.

In addition, the project encompasses the pumphouse of Hamilton Dock, a major heritage asset in its own right, which has been sensitively restored to its original 1911 condition as well as extending the footprint of the original structure to provide ticketing, retail & additional interpretation space for the project.

2M Associates provided Project Monitoring Services to the Heritage Lottery Fund Belfast office, undertaking reviews of the project at pre-determined intervals and reporting on:

  • Progress of all relevant Project activities against the programme
  • Project Expenditure (actual / forecast against budget)
  • Proposed and Actual changes to the project and their likely effect / impact on the approved purposes
  • Any contractual arrangements or claims affecting the project
  • Applications for project finance drawdown
  • Recommendations for action by the funder / monitor

2M Associates Ltd were appointed immediately after the approval by the HLF of the Grantee's Stage 2 Application, providing Project Monitoring services which included:

  • Ensuring the project delivered its approved purposes
  • Ensuring that the risks to the HLF were understood and managed
  • Ensuring best practice was achieved at all times
  • Ensuring that the financial and project management was sound and transparent
